prompt; Write about my in-game Pokemon team and/or trainer
I chose my FireRed team because that's what I've been playing lately, and since none of them are nicknamed I thought it would be easier to keep track of who's doing what XD Also, although my in-game trainer is named Rock I went with my own nickname, since that's how I usually picture it anyway.
"Alright team, good!"
Thump. The rustle of grass, and another whump. A Vaporeon and an Ivysaur met forehead to forehead, grunting as they pushed against each other. Nearby a few other Pokemon watched, and their young bespectacled trainer. She grinned, balling her fists.
"Great job! Keep at it, guys!"
The two Pokemon leapt apart, giving each other sharp glares. Ivysaur braced himself, feet thudding hard against the ground. The leaves on his back shifted before twin vines came shooting out, slicing up grass as they stretched across the fire-lit clearing. His opponent was ready though. Vaporeon jumped back and to one side to avoid the first vine, then rolled away from the second. She came up and twisted quickly, her tail slashing at the ground and kicking up a dirt cloud. The grassy Ivysaur reared back with a growl, trying to shake the sand from his eyes.
"Okay guys," CB said with a chuckle. "You can take a break now." She walked over to her Ivysaur, leaning down and wiping off his face with a cloth. When Vaporeon strolled over, she gave her an affectionate rub on the head. "You both did good. We'll take a break for some dinner, then get back to training okay?" She stood up as she spoke. "After this, Raticate and Pikachu can--" It was here that CB stopped, looking around the field. "Pikachu?"
The rest of her assembled team looked around. Just like their trainer, none of them could see the yellow electric-type anywhere in the area. CB jogged to the edge of the firelight and called out into the forest. "Pikachu? Pikachuuu!" When no answer came she turned back around, looking over to where Nidoking and Pidgeotto stood together. It was the former she addressed. "Nido, can you hear her?"
Nidoking lumbered forward a step or two and looked around, his spiked ears twitching. Turning after a long silence, he pointed to a tree nearby.
"The tree?" CB blinked and moved over to it, thinking it looked just the same as the others all around them. But still, she trusted Nidoking's superior sense of hearing... She stopped at the base of the tree and looked up, peering through the branches. Up there, a few feet up, there seemed to be a small shape sitting on one. "Pikachu?" It moved. "Pikachu!"
"Kachu..." The little Pokemon sighed and looked down, then turned and hopped into CB's waiting arms.
"Oh Pika, don't wander off like that, okay?" She smiled slightly, patting the top of the mouse's head. "I was worried." Blinking once, CB stared at Pikachu, noting her general low demeanor. "Is something wrong?"
"Pika."
CB stared at her for a few moments longer, then gasped faintly. Sighing, she smiled the faintest bit as she turned, walking back to the main part of camp. "I know what it is..." As they walked, memories from earlier that day played through her mind: they had just gone through the Celadon Gym, and the little Pokemon had been the only one who'd had problems defeating enemies; even Vaporeon took down her share of Grass types. CB sat down on a log seat near the fire, resting Pikachu on her knee. "Pika, don't be sad okay? You'll catch up to the others soon."
Pikachu looked up at her, ears sunk down sadly. "Pika Pikachu..." When her trainer looked off thoughtfully, her head cocked in question. "Cha?"
"Pikachu..." CB gently shooed her to the log, then stood up and walked over to her pack. "I bought something earlier while you guys were in the Pokemon Center, but I don't want you to feel pressured to use it..." When she withdrew her hand, she was holding a teal stone that glittered strangely: a Thunder Stone. She returned to the log, very conscious of the fact that her other Pokemon were all watching them intently.
Sitting down beside the yellow mouse, CB held out the stone and smiled faintly. "This will make you stronger. You've seen me evolve Nidorino and Eevee, right? This will do the same thing to you. But I gave them a choice and I'm doing the same thing for you. You don't have to become a Raichu if you don't want to."
Pikachu looked at the stone in the human's hand, then turned her head as Vaporeon walked up. She sat down beside the log, finned tail curving behind her.
"Poreon." She looked at the rock, then to Pikachu. "Vaporeon?"
"Chu." She looked at the whole team, thinking of how many Pokemon they'd defeated, and the badges they'd earned. She looked up at CB last, knowing she'd be proud either way, but wanting to make her even more happy... Pikachu blinked, then puffed herself up and reached out a paw, placing it atop the Thunder Stone.
A sudden glow overtook her, growing with her as the light fought with the fire for strength. Reaching the max size it held for a moment, then broke and fell away with a fading glisten. The new Raichu shook her head clear, then smiled up at her trainer.
"Raaiii~chu."
CB giggled faintly, giving her a ruffled between the ears. "'Nuff said." Sitting up and raising her voice, she addressed her entire team. "Alright guys! Like I said we'll eat dinner, train a little more, then hit the hay. I've been thinking about heading to Lavender Town tomorrow; I've heard there are ghosts around and now that we have that Silph Scope thingie, I'd like to see if we can't figure this out."
Raichu watched her trainer stand and walk away from the log, and she hopped down herself. She spared a moment or two to flex her new body before turning to Vaporeon. The Electric type regarded the Water for a moment or two, then smirked darkly and made a "You. Me. Later." motion with her paw, cheeks crackling slightly. She turned and trailed off after CB happily.
Vaporeon, left alone, sighed, suddenly hoping she'd be left out of the next sparring match. "Eon..."
