roll_soul | Birthday spiel, uncut. Skip at will XD;;;

As was recently pointed out in

samblob's journal (for those who can see it anyway), my birthday is nearing. I...also pointed that out myself in a recent entry XD; The only reason I'm bringing it up again is because seeing his mention of it got me thinking about it.

I'll be 22 this year. A 22-year old into Megaman and video games, that carries around a Fairly Oddparents lanyard *giggles* I've never been one to be concerned with "age appropriate" stuff as decided by the rest of society, but I find that funny nontheless. But aside from it... 22 seems to be my golden year. The way it looks right now, I'm gonna get out of a rut I've been in in life, by getting my GED and (hopefully) getting a job sometime afterwards, so I can feel like I'm pulling my weight for once.

To be honest though... I have mixed feelings about my birthday. My family doesn't have a lot of money, but I have the inkling somebody in it is going to get me a physical gift. And I don't want them to, because of the money issue, but at the same time I don't wanna refuse if they're deadset on doing so. I guess it's because I've always had a little difficulty in accepting gifts XD; I always feel like people are putting themselves out for lil' ol' me.. Besides that, I'm also (more or less) getting to the time where birthdays are just another day. Maybe I'd get a "Happy Birthday" or two, but am happier sitting at the computer talking to Pup, or laying back on my bed with a book, than I am 'out on the town' celebrating the day. Again, that could just be the 'attention on me' part.

And yet, there's a small part of me that says "Lavish away" but I don't let that side talk very often XD;

The thought I get at the end of it, though, is to just let people do what they wanna do. If they wanna just give me little greetings, fine. If they wanna pay attention to me, fine. It'll make both parties happier in the end. Not just when it applies to my birthday, but just in general XD;

Aside from that, my birthday always makes me think of the "Past Year" stuff, kinda the same way the New Year Eve/Day does. For instance, this will mark my second birthday while knowing Pup. My second birthday at REO. My first birthday in the new apartment. My first birthday while in school in a few years at least. My first birthday on NC soil since I turned 21 last year. Things can change so much in a year.

I do find it funny though that I'd put my Winamp on random to get a Current Music listing, and it picked "1985", a year after my birthyear XD

Anyway yeah, that ends the birthday rant XD;; And now, a random little #REO bit I found while reading RP logs between me and Pup (I'd sometime paste in parts of the chat XD; )
